Butylated Compounds (BHT/BHA)

Blacklist Spotlight

I love that these are easy to spot on a label with just 3 capital letters…

๐Ÿšซย BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole)
๐Ÿšซย BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene)

These two closely related synthetic antioxidants are used as preservatives and theyโ€™re easy enough for an alphabet identifying child to find on a label!

This toxic duo is commonly found in a wide array of cosmetics and skincare, but also widely used as food and medication preservatives.

This is where it gets real bad…

๐Ÿšซย The International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies BHA as a probable human carcinogen.

๐Ÿšซย The United States Department of Health and Human Services list BHT and BHA as known carcinogens.

๐Ÿšซย The European Commission on Endocrine Disruption has also listed BHA as a Category 1 priority substance, based on evidence that it interferes with hormone function.

๐Ÿšซย Itโ€™s banned in England, Japan, multiple other European countries… as well as in EVERY product recommendation youโ€™ll find here!

You and your families health is too precious to not read your labels.
