Safe Swap: Body Butter
Lotion is great… but I’ve always been a body butter fan! I did a quick google for the “most popular body butter” and the same brand kept popping up over and over! So I dug a little deeper and wanted to share some ingredient results AND give you my favorite safe swap-a-roo! Significantly safer ingredients AND same general price point
Ditch it ($21+ – plastic packaging):
Aqua (Solvent/Diluent), Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter (Emollient), Butyrospermum Parkii (Skin-Conditioning Agent/Emollient), Glycerin (Humectant), Glycine Soja Oil (Emollient/Skin Conditioner), Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifier), 👎🏼 PEG-100 Stearate (Surfactant), Cyclopentasiloxane (Skin-Conditioning Agent/Emollient), Cetearyl Alcohol (Emulsifier), Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil (Emollient), Lanolin Alcohol (Stabiliser/Emollient), Cyclohexasiloxane (Conditioning Agent), 👎🏼 Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Tocopheryl Acetate (Antioxidant), 👎🏼Methylparaben (Preservative), 👎🏼 Propylparaben (Preservative), Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Modifier),👎🏼 Parfum (Fragrance), Benzyl Alcohol (Preservative), 👎🏼 Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), 👎🏼 Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), 👎🏼 Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone (Fragrance Ingredient), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), 👎🏼 Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), 👎🏼 Geraniol (Fragrance Ingredient), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), 👎🏼 Colour (scarily vague on that last one)
… It started off strong with some great ingredients… but those good guys rest on a bed of bad guys and the research tells us time and time again that it’s NOT worth the risk!
